Though claiming to be a "Christmas Fun Issue!!", you will find
NO Christmas fun inside.
Vigilance Publishers often put "special issue" markings on HOVERBOY covers, attempting to
boost sales. "Special Halloween Issue", "Hanukkah Laugh
Spectacular!", "Double-Size Arbor Day Issue!", and various
claims of free coupons inside often graced the cover; while
inside was the same monthly dose of pre-Comics Code
Hoverboy-fighting-ghouls stories.
The publishers were sued
repeatedly. The magazine was finally canceled when
Vigilance Publishing closed it's doors in 1953, allegedly due
to shady financing... |
